| Our memorial day weekend regatta for <40 classes brought out our usual IOMs for a challenging day of sailing. The
weather was cool and the wind was strong and steady from the left. When we started sailing the wind was at the top limit of the #1 rig. We
definitely had a few boats dipping their beaks into the drink, otherwise the boats were flying around the course. The steady
conditions allowed close starts and close racing. Mostly the racing was a match race between Ron and Bob, with Rich sticking his nose into
the fray. Unfortunately, Fran's boat suffered loss of radio control due to a damaged antenna wire, so he sat out most of the
racing.
We are often so spoiled by the wonderful wind at our site; no sitting around bobbing and drifting.
The strong winds do have their problems, my boat suffered a punctured fore deck cover due to my running up the backside of some one.
The good side of the tough conditions make our boats more resistant to high wind damage. See the results
